Mutuals saved around 700 million euros in 2020 and 2021, because the French went to the doctor less in 2021. However, for this year 2022, the increase will be 4% on average. “For one in 20 members, it will be +6%“, specifies the journalist Anne Sylvain, present Friday January 7 on the set of 19/20. To justify themselves, the mutuals explain that “the population is aging, so health spending is necessarily increasing. Over 20 years, they have almost doubled, +94 %”. Mutuals ensure that their prices have increased less than health costs.
According to the figures, there would also be inequalities between the French according to age and place of residence. “For the Bretons, it is cheaper, 784 euros per year on average because there are fewer doctors in the territory. And conversely, the price jumps to 923 euros in Hauts-de-France where the number of long-term infections is more raised“, concludes the journalist.
