Health Minister Responds to Wave of Rejection Towards Health Act Legalization

Jakarta

Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin open the voice about the wave of rejection Health Act legalized. Budi understands that there are differences of opinion.

“Actually, there are many health workers who support it, it’s just that they haven’t spoken up so far, but for those who don’t support it’s okay, this is a democratic country, they are allowed to have different opinions, if for example they don’t agree there is a path too,” said Budi after the Hoegeng event Awards at The Tribrata Dharmawangsa, South Jakarta, Friday (14/7/2023).

Budi said that his party was ready if the law was challenged to the Constitutional Court. He considered the lawsuit was a normal thing.

“We have submitted it to the Constitutional Court anytime, it is also ready and it’s normal that they want to submit it too, that’s okay,” he said.

On the other hand, Budi revealed that the government continues to embrace all health organizations. He then mentioned that there were also many parties who supported the Health Law, especially young health workers.

“We meet every day, so maybe it looks like that on the outside, but if you look inside there are actually a lot of people who support us, that makes us confident, it’s okay, there are actually a lot of people who support us, especially the young people. It’s just that they don’t dare to reject opinions,” he said.

Budi assessed that after the Health Law was passed it was evident that many things had to be corrected long ago. Therefore, according to him, the Health Law is a necessary matter.

“Now the atmosphere where there are many young people who don’t dare to speak up shows something… for example we have also seen in the media these past two days, as soon as this law was opened more and more we saw it should have been corrected a long time ago. I feel that if we talk about young people “Young people who support much more,” he said.
