Health Awareness Initiatives Impacting 100,000 People in Sharjah: A Year in Review

The Department of Health Education and Health Support Associations at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah has succeeded in achieving significant qualitative achievements in the year 2023, by adopting an innovative work strategy in line with the directives and ideas of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah. , which aims to improve public health levels, which contributes to building a healthy society.

The administration and health-supporting associations were able to deliver their health awareness messages to about 100,000 people, through 111 initiatives such as: educational lectures and workshops, in addition to providing 636 nutritional consultations, publishing 10 electronic booklets in Arabic and English, and 12 health articles.

In 2023, the administration was keen to launch innovative programs and constructive initiatives, which were distinguished by their diversity and targeting all age groups in society, with the aim of overcoming the health challenges facing them. The most important initiatives implemented by the administration included working on the recommendations of the Sihaty 2022 conference, which is to harness digital health to reach… For the purposes of community health awareness, monitoring growth indicators for children and adolescents in health centers and schools, and referring overweight and obesity to clinics.

In this context, Iman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Education Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, confirmed that the administration, thanks to the unlimited support and wise directives of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, has proven its high readiness to develop Strategies and launching innovative health programs and projects, in a way that meets the aspirations of the wise leadership and keeps pace with emerging changes, and contributes to achieving the ultimate goal of the administration, which aims to enhance the efforts of the Emirate of Sharjah with health awareness and encourage community members to follow healthy lifestyles and practice good habits that preserve their health and safety in a way that draws happiness to everyone. It also announced the remarkable achievements achieved by volunteer associations supporting health during the year 2023, as the Friends of Kidney Patients Association was able to reach more than 13,000 beneficiaries from its various programs, such as the Ramadan Health Program, the Pulse of Goodness Program, the Water Life Blooms Program, and the Reassurance Program. It is worth noting that 164 patients affiliated with the Association reaped the benefit and reaped benefits. The fruits of the support provided by the association.

For its part, the Friends of Diabetes Association announced the provision of more than 113,000 financial supports to patients and the provision of more than 2,000 free medical examinations for them.

The Friends of Breastfeeding Association also decided to embrace more than 10 innovative programs during the past year and intensify awareness sessions that contribute to achieving the goal of the Association.

The Friends of Arthritis Patients Association announced the success of the association’s largest event, which is the annual charity marathon, with the participation of more than 5,000 runners, in addition to many innovative programs and events.
