He suspends his snow removal services to demonstrate in Ottawa

On the company’s Facebook page, Transport MC, the owner says he is ceasing his services for an indefinite period, citing the measures put in place by the Canadian government as the reason.

Several customers deplore the situation, even though they paid for the snowplow at the start of winter.

There I had to pay someone to clear my yard in the last storm.says one of the clients, who cannot shovel due to a work accident.

Several Transport MC customers report that they have repeatedly tried to contact the owner in the past few days.

The Transport MC owner ran the post on his business page on Monday before later removing it.

He would have told them that he was going to defend their rights in Ottawa with the convoy of truckers and that he must isolate himself because he has COVID-19.

Since Friday he has not come. Saturday he didn’t come, Sunday he didn’t come. I contacted him every day to find out if he was coming to clear the snow. He does not answer me. He writes me back later in the evening [samedi] to tell me that he was going to send his employee to scratch. On Sunday, I contact him again to find out if his employee was really going to pass. Subsequently, I access his Facebook, and that’s where we see that he ceases his activities for an indefinite periodsays another customer.

The owner of Transports MC refused to grant us an interview. In writing, he mentions having missed only two outings and currently suffering from COVID-19.

He doesn’t seem to grasp the seriousness of the thing. He defends himself by saying that it is the fault of the governmentsays another customer.

The company’s customers did not wish to be identified for fear of reprisals and to avoid losing more money.

The spokesperson for the Consumer Protection Office (OPC), Charles Tanguay, indicates that a customer is entitled to file a complaint when a contract is not respected.

Each case is specific, but apart from force majeure, the company must respect its contract and even in case of force majeure, if it cannot respect the contract, it must still reimburse the customer.he says.

Mr. Tanguay invites people in such situations to contact the OPC, which will tell them what to do.

When a customer wishes to file a complaint, he can send a formal notice to the merchant. If the latter is not aware, the case will continue in Small Claims Court.
