Lenin Gutierrez, a young waiter at a Starbucks in San Diego, has received the support of many Internet users after refusing to serve an unmasked client.

The sprinkler watered. In San Diego, the United States, wearing a mask is recommended to deal with the Covid-19 epidemic (more than 124,000 people have died in the country). However, the Starbucks customer decided otherwise.

The latter did not want to put on a mask while she was inside the establishment. Result: the server refused to take his order. What did not appreciate at all the main interested, named Amber. As a revenge, she took a photo of the young man before sharing the photo on Facebook, according to our colleagues from Huffington Post. Its publication was accompanied by the following legend: “Here is Lenin of Starbucks who refused to serve me because I do not wear a mask. Next time, I will wait for the cops and I will bring a medical dispensation”.

Internet users defend the server

But while the client probably hoped for support from Internet users, they finally took up the defense of the server. Amber’s publication has been shared almost 50,000 times.

A man then made the decision to open a kitty online on the GoFundMe site, as a “tip” for the server. And Internet users were more generous than expected: more than 63,000 dollars were raised, or more than 55,000 euros!

Amber did not appreciate this gesture at all. She stated that she received death threats, and is said to have NBC San Diego, asked for part of the amount collected. She also plans to prosecute the man on the initiative of the pot for defamation. Near KGTV, the American coffee chain, for its part, called on customers to “follow safety protocols and social distancing (…) including wearing a facial mask when visiting” stores.
