HC Linz draws courage

Despite the 27:31 away defeat at Fivers Margareten, the handball players of HC Linz AG took positives with them into today’s league home game against West Vienna (7 p.m. live on laola1.tv). “With the exception of ten minutes, it wasn’t a bad game against the Fivers, who are definitely ahead of us at the moment,” said Linz coach Milan Vunjak, who released his team on Sunday.

Yesterday’s training session should be enough to prepare for the 3-2-1 coverage practiced only by West Vienna in the league. “For some of them, we had already prepared for this the week before,” said manager Uwe Schneider. The complicated preparation of the Viennese, who were missing seven players because of the World Cup (Ranftl, Pratschner, Kaiper) and basic military training, could be an advantage for the Linzers. In contrast, only Max Hermann (World Cup) and the injured Markus Gschwandtner were missing from Linz. The latter recently had reason to be happy despite a torn cruciate ligament: He became a father for the first time.
