On this first day of vacation, you may have planned to go on vacation to the Belgian coast. But this summer, no way to do anything. Deconfinement requires, it will be necessary to respect certain rules. But they are diverse and varied. A quick overview…

De Panne, Coxyde and Middelkerke

There, you can put your towel wherever you want on the beach with your bubble. There are no specific directives for these three municipalities on the Belgian coast. The use of beach cloths, screens is not compulsory.

Not so simple everywhere…

In Ostend, before you can settle on a beach, you will need to register on the Belgian coast website (lelittoral.be). And this also applies to residents. This system will not be used every day, but only those with high crowds on the three busiest beaches. How do we know it’s a busy day? It will be announced three days in advance. It should be expected that this will be mainly on weekends between July 15 and August 15. In Nieuport, you will not have to reserve your place but, on the other hand, it will be allocated to you on your arrival. You will be entitled to 8m² per person. A space defined as in Blankenberg where it will be a little smaller: 6m² per person.

In Le Coq, Bredene and Zeebrugge, the use of beach tarps and screens is compulsory in the cabins.

In Knokke, you don’t have to book your place either but, if you wish, you can sit in a cabriab (a delimited space that can accommodate a bubble of 8 people) or elsewhere on the beach. So it’s first come, first served.

The expected world?

The Belgian coast is in any case preparing for this scenario. Beach coaches have been hired. They will be present everywhere and will circulate on the beaches to ensure that everything goes well. They will support the local police. Cameras that will monitor the crowds have also been installed along the coast.
