Have fun. The construction of the new hospital will start this year

the essential
During the vows ceremony at the Revel hospital center, the director, Philippe Peridont, announced that the reconstruction works of the new Revel hospital will begin during the first half of this year. Its opening is scheduled for 2025-2026.

Due to security constraints related to the Covid pandemic, it had been three years since the Revel Hospital Center held its farewell ceremony for staff and partner associations, in the plant’s town hall, in the presence of elected officials. The director of the Revel health institute and the Castres-Mazamet intercommunal hospital center, Philippe Péridon, was therefore very happy to reconnect with this tradition at the beginning of the year, especially since he had an important announcement to make. .

“We haven’t seen each other in three years but we haven’t been inactive,” he explained. “We took advantage of this time to carry on the practices and in particular the hospital reconstruction project”. Philippe Péridon recalled that this project for a new hospital establishment had been validated in 2021 by Prime Minister Jean Castex. “This is the most advanced project included in the Occitania Regional Health Plan,” he underlined.

Work in stages

Last year, in fact, this project had a strong boost with the assignment of the construction management following the competition, then the filing of the building permit in December and the financing. We recall that during the municipal council, in November, the elected officials of the municipality had approved the payment of €500,000 over two years, to the estimated budget for this operation which amounts to €21,329,275. “I had the prefect at the end of December to discuss with him the additional financial aid for subsidies for equipment for rural areas and two days later we received the application file,” explained the mayor of Revel Laurent Hourquet to prove all the interest shown by the State in this project which will be built along the avenue Notre-Dame, within the walls of the current hospital. “At the beginning of the year we are about to define the tenders for the works, which will take place in phases so as not to interrupt the operations of the plant. The first phase of the works should start in late spring, the beginning of the summer”, explained Philippe Péridon, hoping to finish the works by 2025-2026.

“Share staff with Castres hospital”

Philippe Péridon (director of the hospital). “2022 was a difficult year, both due to organizational difficulties and the high rate of absenteeism and recruitment difficulties. We know that the state is having difficulty organizing treatment. Part of our future belongs to us and I would like to salute the commitment and commitment to public service of staff and managers. As part of the renewal of our medical skills, to replace those who leave and face recruitment difficulties, we will have a new relationship with the Chic de Castres-Mazamet for shared work” .

Alain Chatillon (senator of Haute-Garonne). “We lived through a difficult year 2022 for the country. However, we must have the courage to carry forward the project of the new hospital that we started in 2018. For my part, I have been very attached to this hospital since 1989 and I will have it continue to intervene in Paris to defend its projects and its development” .

Gilbert Hébrard (departmental councilor of the canton of Revel). “The Department will continue to support the Revel hospital, as well as constructively but according to its competences”.

Laurent Hourquet (mayor of Revel and president of the community of communes). “The health problem is the first concern of our fellow citizens. Today we are paying for years of uncertain management. For this reason, we are pushing for our healthcare offer to be as broad as possible even if we have the skills, for this reason we fully support the new hospital project, which will be fundamental for the people of Revel but also for all the inhabitants of our area ”.
