New round in the exhaust scandal: According to an expert report, exhaust gas measurements on the Q5 TFSI 2.0 Euro 6 model from the Bavarian car manufacturer show Audi Depending on the test situation, there are clear differences in the emission of nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide. The car manufacturer had installed comparable illegal defeat devices in diesel engines. First, the SWR reported on the case.

The report by an independent expert was drawn up in the course of a legal dispute before the Offenburg Regional Court. The exhaust emissions of one were compared Audi Q5 in two driving situations: once before the test, the steering wheel was turned as in everyday car use, and once not – similar to a test bench.

Nitrogen oxide emissions above the legal limit

As a result, according to the expert report, nitrogen oxide emissions were 24.5 percent higher after turning the steering wheel. For carbon monoxide, the difference was 59 percent. According to the report, nitrogen oxide emissions after the steering wheel were turned to 82.5 milligrams per kilometer and were thus well above the legal limit.

The law firm involved in the proceedings before the Offenburg Regional Court, Dr. Stoll and Sauer from Lahr in the Black Forest sees this confirm the suspicion that the exhaust gas cleaning of the tested Audi model had been “manipulated”. “Exhaust gas limits are obviously only observed on the test bench.” The law firm then reported that it was against the former Audi boss Rupert Stadler.

A company spokesman for Audi did not initially comment on the new allegations, as the proceedings were ongoing. However, he announced that the automaker would “oppose” the report. There are already proceedings against Stadler and seven other suspects in connection with the scandal over manipulated diesel exhaust gas values.
