Harry shopping during Christmas can be expensive – NRK Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country

From midnight, all foreign nationals over 12 must test negative for covid-19 before entering Sweden.

This applies even if you have been fully vaccinated.

To enter the country, you must have a documented negative PCR / NAAT test or antigen test. It is not enough to use self-test.

The new rules also apply to people who travel on a day trip to Sweden to shop.

These are the new requirements:

  • The tests that are approved for entry are either antigen test or PCR / NAAT test.
  • Applies to those who are 12 years or older.
  • The test must be performed within 48 hours before arrival in Sweden.

You must also present a test certificate with a number of details, such as the name and date of birth of the person being tested.

This means that the test must be taken at an approved test station for it to be valid when entering Sweden.

The new test requirement means that you no longer have to show a corona passport when entering the country.

Expensive quick tests

But if you want the test result quickly, you have to take the test privately, and it can cost you.

At Volvat Medisinske Senter, one of the largest private health trusts in Norway, a so-called antigen test, or rapid test, costs 1190 kr.

With a written certificate, the price increases by NOK 450. That is SEK 1650 per person.

While a PCR test, with an answer within 3 hours, costs you NOK 2,500.

Exceptions to the requirements

Some groups are exempt from these new entry requirements. Among them are freight drivers, people with residence permits, and people who travel due to important family matters.

The Swedish police have a complete overview of who this applies to on their website.

For border commuters, one negative test per week is sufficient, as well as a valid corona passport, informs the Swedish government.

The Public Health Agency’s latest scenarios indicate an increased spread that could be extensive in mid-January.

Therefore, several temporary measures are now being implemented to curb the spread of infection, they state.
