The news had been in the air for some time now, after director Chris Columbus had declared himself interested in the nostalgic project. The reunion of Harry Potter, starting today, it is officially a reality. Variety has confirmed the rumors that have been circulating for some time, also because this year we celebrate 20 years since the release of the first film of the saga.
On November 16, 2021, exactly two decades ago, it arrived in all cinemas Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. In the film directed by Columbus, three actors made their film debut who would later become iconic in the imagination of potterheads. We are talking about Daniel Radcliffe in the role of the protagonist Harry Potter, from Emma watson in the role of Hermione Granger e Rupert Grint in that of Ron Weasley.
This is the story told in the film, inspired by the famous novel by JK Rowling: Harry Potter is a child harassed by his terrible uncles and his “Muggle” cousin who at the age of 11 receives a letter to join the most important school of magic in the world. Once he arrives he will discover that a threat hovers over him and his friends: the evil wizard Voldemort is in fact on his trail and will do everything to get rid of him.

In addition to the three aforementioned actors, this long-awaited meeting of the original cast will also be present Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch e Ian Hart.
Variety has confirmed that this special show, titled Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will air January 1, 2022 on HBO. At least for the moment we do not know where it will be broadcast in Italy, but hopefully it should be purchased by Sky as the special of Friends.
The Harry Potter reunion, on paper, should really be very similar to that of the starring series Jennifer Aniston and companions. During the episode, the members of the original cast will remember the good old days, between anecdotes and unforgettable moments.
