Harry and Meghan: last royal appointment

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan will attend a Commonwealth Day service with Queen Elizabeth II today. It is expected to be the couple’s last appointment as so-called senior royals. Officially, they give up their royal duties at the end of March.

The two had announced in January that they would partially withdraw from their royal duties and become financially independent. Later, however, they agreed on a clear break with the royal family. Accordingly, from April onwards the couple waived the title “Royal Highness” and no longer performed any official duties for the Royals. The “Sussex Royal” brand that Harry and Meghan have used since their wedding should also disappear.

The couple will probably want to stay mostly in Canada with their ten-month-old son Archie Harrison. However, the government in Ottawa has already made it clear that it will not pay for family security. How Harry and Meghan want to finance their expensive livelihood is not yet known.

The services at Westminster Abbey include, among others, heir to the throne Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla and Prince William and Duchess Kate.
