Harrison Ford Gets Digitally Rejuvenated For Latest Indiana Jones Movie, The Magazine Reports Empire. Director James Mangold tells the mag that he wants to take viewers in the opening to archaeologist Indiana Jones’ younger years in 1944, before the film transitions to an older “Indy” in 1969.
The creators of Indiana Jones 5 it uses Ford’s old archival material as a basis, which is now eighty years old. Those images are then linked to new material from the actor. Producer Kathleen Kennedy hopes viewers think footage 40 years old is being pasted into the film.
It was the first time Ford found the rejuvenated images convincing. “I don’t think I want to know how it works, but it works,” she says Empire.
Ford Star Warscolleagues Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, for example, have been digitally made younger before. The edited footage leaves Ford with no nostalgia for his younger days. “I’m glad I earned my age,” the actor says.
Indiana Jones 5 will be released in theaters in the summer of 2023. Ford has previously announced that this will be the last time he will play the adventurer.
