Hardwell gets to know himself again through sabbatical | NOW

Hardwell gave an interview two years after he announced to stop touring. The DJ tells in conversation with the Revealed Podcast that he got to know himself better, because he now has more free time.

In conversation with the podcast, the 32-year-old DJ tells us that his life looks much more normal than before.

“I am enjoying life immensely, getting to know myself again. I have discovered what normal life looks like: shopping, spending time with my parents, visiting friends’ birthdays. That was not possible at first, I was always touring.”

Robbert van de Corput, as the DJ is really called, has also had a lot more rest in the field of music and as a result has also undergone developments. “I feel like young Robbert again. When I was still living at home and had no deadline, I only made music that came from my heart.”

When Hardwell traveled around the world, he mainly composed hits that the public wanted to hear and that worked well in his sets. He has not stopped making music; he is still in the studio five days a week.

“Now I make the music that I like,” he explains. “I have never felt so happy in the studio. My music feels much more personal.”

In September 2018, the DJ announced that he would stop playing indefinitely. “There is so much that I want to share with family and friends, there are so many paths that I want to take, but by always being Hardwell, there is not enough energy, love, creativity and attention for my life as a “normal” person, “he explained his decision earlier.
