At the hands-on trade fair “Xperience Handwerk” young people can try out different professions until October 15th.

For ten days, young people can try out whether they have a skill in painting, carpentry, bricklaying or hairdressing, or whether they like construction mechanics: in, welders: in, metal workers: in or electronics technicians: in. This is made possible by the hands-on fair “Xperience Handwerk”, which is set up until Friday, October 15, in the rooms of the municipal job center Pro Arbeit in Dietzenbach, Albert-Einstein-Straße 30.

The trade is desperately looking for junior staff. “There are currently around 350 vacant apprenticeships in the region,” explained Uwe Czupalla, Managing Director of the District Craftsmen Association, at the exhibition opening on Monday. Around 25 training positions are currently still open in the city and district of Offenbach.

Corona made it even more difficult for the trade, many internships were postponed or canceled entirely. Pro Arbeit and the Offenbach Employment Agency have teamed up to bring the hands-on exhibition designed by the Frankfurt / Rhein-Main Chamber of Crafts to Dietzenbach. “The trade fair is an innovative way of attracting young people to the trade in a playful way,” said District Member Carsten Müller (SPD).

The schools in the Offenbach district were asked who had not yet completed any training. These kids were invited to visit the fair by the Employment Agency primarily in the first week. In the second week, young people who are registered with Pro Arbeit and have no training follow, as well as young people who are being prepared for training in projects or who are completing language qualifications. For two hours, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., they can all work on different workpieces. Coaches show them how to do it. For example, you are making a weld or dismantling a bicycle. Or they create a spirit level, a mobile phone stand or an alarm system, and can then even take their works home with them. If you like, you can also put on VR glasses and see how the training takes place in “reality”.
