Handball – Nationale 2: USO Nevers jostled leader Grenoble but ended up cracking

Fourteen victories in fourteen meetings of National 2, best attack and best defense of the hen. Beating Grenoble is an impossible challenge this season. The USO Nevers almost raised it in its Maison des sports, this Saturday, March 11, but ended up giving in to the Isérois.

A defeat with a score, 29-36, which may seem severe given the performance of the Neversois, who we have rarely seen show so much cohesion and solidarity this season. Aggressive in defense and effective on the other side of the floor, they posed many problems for Grenoble, long behind in the first period (8-4, 10-6, 13-9). Cunière, Teyssier and Ghessab added to the scoring for Nevers who saw Grenoble gradually catch up until they were level again just before the break.

Nevers paid for his efforts at the end

The USO unfortunately paid for a missed locker room return which the Isérois took advantage of. They gradually took off (20-26, 40th) and were able to resist when Nevers, pushed by a noisy public, came to tease them at the end of the game (25-27, 48th). The burst of energy to come back was too great and the Neversois lacked lucidity at the end of the game when they had the balls to further doubt their opponents.

If the result is not at the end, the USO Nevers (9th this evening) will still be able to rely on its evening performance to obtain the maintenance, not yet acquired. Especially since there is a pivotal trip to Aix-en-Savoie, which follows it in the standings, Saturday March 25.
