HSG Wetzlar suffered a surprising bankruptcy against Tusem Essen in the handball Bundesliga on Thursday evening.
Against the cellar child from Essen, currently penultimate in the table, the HSG was left behind at 26:30. For the Hessians, who can still have legitimate hopes for sixth place, it was the second bankruptcy in a row after the lost Hessenderby against MT Melsungen.
Against Essen it was 12:14 at break, after half time the guests presented themselves more grippy and in the meantime pulled away seven points. The HSG’s best thrower was Ivan Srsen with five goals. After all: A small consolation for the bottom of the table from Wetzlar should be the 727 spectators who were able to watch the game live in the hall.
