Hamilton celebrates 95th victory in F-1 in Bahrain; Grožāns experiences a terrible accident (+ VIDEO)

Mercedes British driver Lewis Hamilton won the Bahrain Grand Prix as a world champion on Sunday.

It has already been reported that the race started with a terrible accident in the third round of the first lap, when the “Haas” car driven by the French driver Roman Grožāns collided with the Russian “Daniel Alpha” “Alpha Thauri” and hit the barrier.

Grožāns’ car split into two parts and caught fire, but the pilot was able to leave the car on his own, with only minor burns.

The race was immediately stopped by a red flag and the other cars returned to the pits.

World champion Hamilton turned pole position into his 95th victory, finishing ahead of both Red Bull drivers. Dutchman Max Verstapen was 1.254 seconds behind, but Alexander Albon from Thailand was 8,005 seconds slower than the winner.

The race resumed after the Grozny accident, with the bolids standing before the start, but the safety car did not have to wait long to go to the track after the Lens Strols from the Racing Point accident, colliding with Kwyat.

There were no more incidents until the last laps, when the Mexican Serhio Peres’ Racing Point racing car thought to start flaming the engine and forced Peres to end the race. The Mexican was then claiming his second podium in a row.

Hamilton was the fastest in the first two training sessions on Friday, but Verstapen was ahead of him in the third training session on Saturday. However, the best time in the qualification was again shown by the British pilot, overtaking teammates Walter Botas and Verstapen.

Next weekend, the race on the Sahir track will be repeated, measuring strength in the penultimate stage of the F-1 season in the Sahira Grand Prix, and the 2020 series will end on December 13 in Abu Dhabi.

After 15 stages, Hamilton has 332 points, 201 points is Botass, but the best of the other teams with 189 points is Verstapens.

The victory in the Constructors’ Cup has already been ensured by the “Mercedes” team.

A record number of races were planned this season (22), but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the calendar was shortened to 17 stages.

Also last season, Hamilton was crowned world champion, triumphing for the sixth time in his career and for the third time in a row.
