Hamad bin Khalifa University sheds light on ‘mental health’ challenges

Dr. Mowafak Hosseh, Associate Professor at the College of Science and Engineering at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, gave two lectures to institutions in the United States of America and Canada, and this step comes to enhance international cooperation in the fields of discussion.
During a lecture delivered at the Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy at the City University of New York, Dr. Hosah highlighted the increasing use of artificial intelligence to prevent, diagnose and treat mental health diseases, according to the title: “Artificial Intelligence for Mental Health: Challenges and Opportunities”. He also provided an overview of his work in the field of artificial intelligence to promote mental health in the Middle East region.
Dr. Mowaffaq participated in the virtual lecture series organized by the Center for Health Informatics at the University of Calgary, where he delivered a lecture entitled: “Mental Health Informatics: From Stigma to Empowerment – A Middle Eastern Perspective.”
During the lecture, he reviewed 3 of the projects and applications that he is currently working on, namely: “Israa”, “Sukoon” and “Mahdah”. These applications provide digital support for mental health, and aim to empower individuals and families in Qatar and the Middle East and North Africa region.
The College of Science and Engineering offers advanced programs that are compatible with national and international challenges, aspirations and needs. The College offers 13 academic programs across 3 departments covering the fields of sustainable development, information technology and computing, engineering management and decision sciences.
