HAKLI Bangka raises public awareness of the spread of dengue

During the last three months from September to November 2021, hundreds of dengue cases were found

Sungailiat, Bangka (ANTARA) – The Association of Indonesian Environmental Health Experts (HAKLI) in Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province reminded the public to be aware of the spread of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) because there had been an increase in cases in the last three months.

“I remind the whole community to be aware of the spread of dengue fever considering that during the last three months from September to November 2021, hundreds of cases of dengue were found,” said Bangka District HAKLI Chairman Boy Yandra in Sungailiat, Friday.

Dengue fever is a disease caused by the bite of a mosquito carrying the dengue virus, usually occurring during the transition season.

Dengue fever causes symptoms of high fever and if not treated properly and quickly can result in death.

“The public must be really aware of the condition of environmental cleanliness, especially during the rainy season like now where it has the potential to cause puddles of water which can become a breeding ground for mosquito larvae. Aedes Aegypti, “he said.

He said early prevention of the spread of dengue fever must be carried out by the community such as routinely draining the bath once a week, cleaning water reservoirs, installing mosquito nets, stockpiling used goods and spreading abate.

“In addition to the residents’ environment, the office environment must also pay attention to the cleanliness of the office by implementing mutual cooperation activities or clean Fridays,” he said.

“If there are DHF patients, the team will carry out epidemiology in the environment up to three houses away from the DHF patient’s house point,” he said.

Boy Yandra emphasized that his party is synergizing with the health office, health centers and posyandu to carry out socialization of dengue prevention including distributing abate powder for free to the public.

“For public information, indications of mosquitoes that can cause DHF are black and white segmented mosquitoes, usually looking for food at 06.00 WIB to 08.00 WIB and from 15.00 WIB to 19.00 WIB,” he explained.

The public is reminded to immediately go to the nearest doctor or health center if they experience a sudden fever for two to seven days without a clear cause, weakness or lethargy, restlessness, heartburn, accompanied by signs of bleeding on the skin in the form of bleeding spots. (petechiae ), bruises (ecchymosis), or rash (purpura) and others.
