Haji Adam Malik Central General Hospital Commemorates World Child Cancer Day with Fun Event for Patients and Families

TRIBUN-MEDAN.com, MEDAN – Commemorating World Child Cancer Day, doctors and nurses at the Haji Adam Malik Central General Hospital (RSUP HAM) gathered and had fun with child cancer patients and their families in the hallway of the Central Medical Unit (CMU) Building, RSUP HAM, Friday (16/2/2024 ).

This activity was organized by the Hospital Health Promotion and Marketing Installation (PKPRS) RSUP HAM in collaboration with the Medan Children’s Oncology Foundation (YOAM) in commemoration of International Childhood Cancer Day or World Childhood Cancer Day which falls every February 15.

More than 20 children who were undergoing treatment for various types of cancer at HAM Hospital seemed to forget their burdens for a moment.

They mingled and were entertained by various performances from childhood cancer survivors who had successfully conquered the disease that had attacked their bodies.

You could see smiles on their lips as they watched various entertainment with their parents, as well as the doctors and nurses who had been caring for them at HAM Hospital.

“Hopefully this event will at least inspire us that there are many cancer patients who really need our attention, both from a moral and material perspective.

“RSUP HAM itself will continue to be committed to providing complete services and supporting everything in cancer services, including childhood cancer,” said the Director of Medicine and Nursing, Dr. Otman Siregar SpOT(K) Spine in Everything.

Meanwhile, YOAM Trustee Halimah Hutagalung expressed her appreciation to RSUP HAM for the services provided so far, especially in child cancer services.

“The HAM Hospital is very attentive and has provided a lot of assistance to us in treating pediatric cancer patients.

“Thank you also for facilitating and supporting this activity to entertain the children of cancer patients,” he said.

Likewise, the Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division of the North Sumatra Provincial Health Service, Novita Rohdearni Saragih, who was present on behalf of the Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Health Service, also expressed her appreciation for this activity.

He hopes that this activity can entertain and lighten the burden a little on the cancer patients at HAM Hospital who are battling the disease they have been suffering from for so long.

According to a World Health Organization (WHO) report, more than 1000 children globally are diagnosed with cancer every day.

However, recent advances in medical technology have given cancer patients a very high chance of survival.
