MADRID, 20 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Haitian Justice has charged this Monday Martine Moise, the widow of former President Jovenel Moise, and 50 people in his close circle for complicity, criminal association, armed robbery, terrorism and murder, within the framework of the assassination investigation. occurred in July 2021 at his residence and left a power vacuum that aggravated the turbulent political and economic situation in the country.

Among the accused also stand out the former interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph, the former Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Renald Lubérice, the former Minister of the Interior Ardouin Zéphirin, Moise’s former security chief Dimitri Hérard and his former security coordinator Jean Laguel Civil, as published by the newspaper ‘Gazzete Haiti’.

The judge in the case, Walter Wesser Voltaire, has ordered the arrest and imprisonment of all of them; It should be noted that there is no opponent of the former president among the accused.

At the end of January, Voltaire had already issued an arrest warrant against Moise’s widow for this same case. Martine Moise was in the couple’s private residence with her two children when a group of armed men broke into the home and shot the then Haitian president. The woman survived and she was flown to the United States for treatment.

Martine Moise, little given to speaking out or giving signs of life, launched a publication on her social networks on December 7, when 29 months had passed since her husband’s death, in which she asserted that “the murderers (…) feel that “Their reign of impunity and untouchability appears to be coming to an end.”

On July 7, 2021, around twenty people broke into the home of the then Haitian president, where they encountered little resistance from the security team, killed Moise and injured his wife, Martine Moise. Since Moise’s assassination, the power vacuum aggravated the country’s turbulent political and economic situation in a security crisis, with murders and kidnappings on a daily basis.
