Habib Beye, who knew the illustrious disappeared well, remembered a fact which opposed them when they were both in the service of the OM. The former Marseille defender had met the president to negotiate bonuses for the players. “Pope tells me‘ But why do you want bonuses, we’re at Olympique de Marseille. Here we have to finish champion. Why are you coming to get bonuses for being second, third or fourth? ’Pope was that. I went back to the locker room, and the players stood up a little against me. But the Pope spoke to them and repeated: ‘Here there is no bonus for being second, third or fourth. When you’re at OM, you come to win and for first place, “said the famous consultant on Canal +.
