Haas F1 team boss Guenther Steiner admits he already has his eye on American Logan Sargent.
Logan Sargent, who finished FIA-F2 in 4th place last year, will step up to F1 with Williams this season.
As the boss of Formula 1’s only American team, Haas F1 Team, Gunther Steiner admits he will keep a close eye on the progress of American drivers in 2023.
“At the moment we have to get the team better and ready because we need to get more performances,” said Gunther Steiner.
In fact, Gunther Steiner is so keen to advance the team in 2023 that he ousted young Mick Schumacher and replaced him with 35-year-old veteran Nico Hulkenberg.
That’s despite Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen not even speaking for five years after the 2017 Suck My Ball incident.
“If it costs the team, we will have to intervene,” said Gunther Steiner.
“But I think I know Nico very well and I hope there are no big problems.”
But if problems arise, Gunther Steiner is already eyeing Haas’ next potential driver, the American.
“We have an American driver who is about to get experience, but he needs all the support we can get at the moment,” Steiner told Austin broadcaster KVUE.
“I hope he gains experience and when he does, I want him to come to our team in the United States. How about that?” Gunther Steiner smiled.
