“Haaland on the Verge of Breaking 94-Year-Old Club Record: Can He Do It?”

Manchester City’s prolific striker, Erling Haaland, has the opportunity to break a club record that has stood for 94 years when Pep Guardiola’s team takes on Leeds United this weekend. Haaland scored his 35th Premier League goal of the season in City’s 3-0 victory over West Ham on Wednesday, moving ahead of Alan Shearer and Andy Cole’s prior league-leading record of 34 goals in 1994/95 and 1993/94, respectively. The Norwegian forward, whose focus remains on team trophies, has a chance to equal Tommy Johnson’s record of 38 goals in the 1928/29 season should he score a hat-trick against Leeds. Currently, he is only surpassed by Sergio Aguero’s 184 goals for the Blues in the league. Historian and author, Dr Gary James, revealed that Johnson’s son, Alan, explained that his father always wanted someone to break his record, as he believed records should be aimed for and broken.
