H1N1 influenza: three new cases identified this Friday

The Minister of Health revealed it: three new cases of H1N1 flu were detected this Friday, June 2. This brings the number of patients infected with this virus to 11 since last week. Two patients have died and two are currently admitted to the intensive care unit. The state of health of the other seven patients is considered stable.

Anwar Husnoo provided these figures to the press this Friday afternoon at the end of a ceremony marking the renewal of the collaboration between the University of Mauritius and the University of Bordeaux to train general practitioners.

The Minister of Health has asked the population to take basic precautions. “The H1N1 flu has been around since 2009. We have to live with this situation. The virus is not only present in Mauritius, but also in Réunion and Madagascar, among others. I ask people at risk to get vaccinated at the start of winter, ”said Anwar Husnoo.
