Today, a music education event – “Guitarist Session” – has started in Madona, which is already taking place for the 25th time. More than 1,600 participants from all over Latvia have taken part in it since 1998, many of whom have established their own musical careers.
Imants Pulkstenis, the organizer of the “Guitarist session”: “People are called here to listen. They are open – growing by the hour, by the minute. And it’s so cool that four days have such a lasting result, which we can also indirectly observe on the stages. In principle, it is a movement, it is a “Guitarist session” phenomenon – just like the drummers’ summit in Saulkrasti. Academically, maybe a slightly different form, but we supplement academic education here.”
Lessons and master classes of the anniversary session will be led by experienced teachers and Latvian musicians, including Kaspars Zemītis, Ingars Viļums, Mārcis Auziņš and others. Clock: “The best people are here – both from Rēzekne College, as well as long-term ones, for example, Egīls Leimanis with acoustic guitars has been here for ten years. Also Mikus Chavarts with percussion. There will still be many good masters who will provide their experience and their art, their craftsmanship.”
It should be noted that the session will traditionally end with a concert – its first part will be created during the session with the performance of masters and participants, while the second part will be performed by Horen Stalbe and the group “The Hobos”.
