One of Elvis Presley’s most famous guitars, a 1942 Martin D-18, will be according to TMZ is expected to generate about $ 3 million (over 2.6 million euros) at an auction that starts next week.
Presley, who passed away in 1977, owned the guitar between 1954 and 1956. The instrument is auctioned at Gotta Have Rock and Roll, where interested parties can bid from $ 1.2 million.
The guitar is often referred to as Presley’s ‘Sun Sessions Guitar’ as he recorded his music at the iconic Sun Studios in Memphis. He also performed live with the Martin D-18.
Metal letters are attached to the guitar, which initially spelled Elvis’ first name. The ‘s’ is no longer on it.
