ArenaNet and NCSoft have now rolled out the fourth major expansion for Guild Wars 2. Dubbed Secrets of the Obscure, the expansion brings two new maps (Skywatch Archipelago and Amnytas), as well as two new Strike missions, the new central hub in Wizard’s Tower, and a host of other gameplay features.
As for what those are, we’re told players will be able to gain further freedom in how they use their class’ elite specialty weapons. Beyond that, we’re also promising new gear slots dedicated to runes to introduce additional special effects and stat bonuses. The Wizard’s Vault will also bring players a new way to earn daily, weekly and seasonal achievements, which will lead to the use of new and unique items.
Otherwise, as for the story of Secrets of the Obscure, we’re told: “The all-new story casts players as both edgy and unknown explorers as they race to defend the world from hitherto unseen threats. The adventure will begin by scaling floating islands in the Skywatch archipelago, which are under attack from Krypton , Krypton is a race of demons, evil creatures that flow in the mist of instability and threaten the world’s fragile peace after the Elder Dragon is defeated. What follows is an epic struggle into the Demon Realm, the fate of the world In the hands of the players and their secret new allies.
