The diet is one of the most important guidelines that a diabetic patient must follow, in order to control the levels of diabetes in the blood, so there are some foods that he should not overeat.

In this regard, Dr. Osama Hamdi, a professor of internal medicine and diabetes at Harvard University, warns diabetics not to eat too much red meat, pointing out that it should be eaten once or twice a week.

Hamdi explained that the saturated fats in meat are very harmful to a diabetic patient, unlike dairy, since the latter are short and medium in length, stressing that the most dangerous are processed meat fats such as luncheon meat and hot dogs, as they include substances harmful to the heart.

He continued: Fermented milk such as yoghurt and curd is very beneficial as it improves the gut bacteria, stressing that the fructose found in fruits is not harmful, especially in the presence of fibres, advising drunk patients to eat one grain of any fruit.

Hamdiy continued: Diabetics are allowed all kinds of fruits, but within limits. For example, there is no harm in eating a date or two in Ramadan. There are harmful foods for diabetics, but not fruits, vegetables, fish and dairy products, “noting that dairy products do not harm a patient.” Sugar, but it may affect weight, according to the latest research, being the saturated fat in dairy products is generally beneficial.

He advised and denied rumors about the harm of rumi cheese to diabetics, commenting, “Most of the dairy products are a blessing from God.”
