Guatemalans crowd vaccination centers this weekend in search of a third dose against covid-19 – Prensa Libre

On a tour made by Free Press and Guatevisión long lines of people and vehicles were observed to obtain the doses, especially the booster dose.

Long lines of vehicles register in Campo Marte to enter the vaccination center against covid-19.

Clemencia Mazariegos, 77, arrived with her son and a neighbor in search of the third dose of the Moderna vaccine.

He added that they arrived early and had not yet received the vaccine, since there is a wait for the long line of users.

He said that he went to get vaccinated because he is elderly and is more vulnerable to covid-19.

Some users have reported failures in the registration system, so at times it was by hand to then enter the data.

Rubén Téllez, Army spokesman, reported that there is a noticeable increase in people in the vaccination centers run by the Army.

He said that on Campo Marte the line of vehicles extended to the Vista Hermosa Swing. Congestion is also reported at the Mariscal Zavala vaccination center.

He added that the pedestrian areas of Mariscal Zavala and Guardia de Honor register little influx of people this Saturday.

The spokesperson indicated that in Mariscal Zavala the Pfizer vaccine was exhausted and they hope that it can be restored soon.

He added that there have been problems with the system, so they have taken data manually and then enter it into the Health registry.

He indicated that if the data does not appear in the registry, it may be an error in the manual entry or because they were entered at the time the system failed.

He stressed that there is high interest in the third dose, and they see that people of different ages arrive.

Téllez indicated that before they applied 800 vaccines per day in the Guardia de Honor and Campo Marte. After the authorization of the third dose, the number increased to 1,700 more people.

The first three days they placed 7 thousand vaccines only on the Campo Marte and the Guard of Honor. On Friday, January 7, they placed 6 thousand and expect the same for this Saturday and Sunday.
