GroenLinks party chairman argues for more nuclear energy and fewer wind turbines

Slowly but surely, the realization is growing among the tree cuddly boots that filling the whole of the Netherlands with windmills and solar panels is not such a good idea. Last Monday, for example, party leader of GroenLinks in Veendam, Trevor Mooijman, voted against a sustainable energy plan in his municipality. According to the politician, more attention should be paid to alternative energy sources such as nuclear energy.

With this he stands diametrically opposed the national party that would prefer to close the reactor in Borsselle today. Opposite RTV North Mooijman explains his rebellion:

“You could call it progressive insight. This is an important file and I have read a lot about it in the past year. I think we should not only look at wind and solar energy on land. We should do that too, but it causes nuisance and pollution of the horizon and there is absolutely no support for this in this area. I think we should take a broader view of the energy transition and examine all possible options, including nuclear energy. ”

Mooijman also says he does not find it on the left to saddle people with expensive water pumps. The group chairman also pointed out that green grass does not grow when you put a solar panel on top of it.

In recent years the protest among the population against the arrival of more windmills and solar panels in the country. Residents are therefore less and less often bribe by energy companies. The VVD government party is already calling for the construction of ten nuclear power plants.
