Green Riyadh reforestation scheme ‘Green Riyadh’

Riyadh is about to implement a vast reforestation plan. As part of the “Green Riyadh” project, 6,23,000 trees are planted. Trees are planted in 54 gardens, 61 schools, 121 churches and 78 parking lots. The project is expected to be implemented in more than 120 residential areas according to international standards (Green Riyadh Afforestation Scheme)

In parallel with the implementation of the project, tree planting and public awareness campaigns will be carried out. An exhibition detailing the project will be held from 29th of this month to 7th January. Afforestation is planned in Al Aziziya, Al Naseem, Al Jazeera, Al Araija, Qurtuba, Al Ghadair and Al Nakhil areas.

Green Riyadh is one of four projects King Salman launched in the Saudi capital on March 19, 2019 under the supervision of the Committee of Grand Projects chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Riyadh is trying to become one of the 100 best cities in the world. And the Green Riyadh project is also part of Kingdom Vision 2030. 75 million trees will be planted across the capital. Officials said it would help improve air quality and reduce temperatures.
