David Ellensohn, club chairman of the Viennese Greens, dared to take stock on Twitter: “People, the blue in 2015 dusted 34 mandates plus four out-of-town councilors. The Viennese will quarter them next autumn.” More FPÖ personnel would “withdraw from politics”. He alludes to Ursula Stenzel. The longstanding politician (first ÖVP, then FPÖ) and currently not in charge of the city council had announced this week that it would not run again.

“Today”-Print editor-in-chief Christian Nusser chose the greatest possible escalation in a comment under the tweet: “Grüner wants to split FPÖ politicians into four.” Such a title would make many clicks online. Ellensohn: “I don’t prevent anyone from writing it like this …” So that’s what we’re doing. At least almost. Because blood will flow in the Vienna election only figuratively.
