Gran Canaria and Tenerife are still at level 3 but the curfew is reduced | Radio Club Tenerife | Hour 25 Canary Islands

The spokesman for the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez, announced this Thursday that although Gran Canaria and Tenerife will continue at level 3, the curfew will be extended until 11.00 p.m., while El Hierro will go from level 1 to 2 after an increase “significant” of the contagions.

In a press conference after the meeting of the Government Council, Julio Pérez has acknowledged that in Gran Canaria and Tenerife the number of infections remains at levels that the regional executive, according to Public Health, consider that “they continue to be worrying”.

The spokesperson has pointed out that sometimes it is difficult for him to find the right word to express the situation, to do so without reaching alarmism but without falling into unconcern, and he added that in the last 15 days Tenerife has exceeded one hundred infections per day, of average, and Gran Canaria the 80s.

For this reason, the regional government believes that both islands should continue at level 3, and regarding the reduction of the curfew, for the benefit of the hospitality industry, it has stated that it is done because the knowledge and application of the rules is every time more widespread and better applied.

On the other hand, there will be no news regarding the restrictions inside these establishments.

Julio Pérez has also advanced that in the coming days, the possibility of traveling in the islands at level 3 will be restored in the coming days, even if it is not for work or health reasons, to care for a family member or carry out procedures, provided that present a negative PCR or antigen test.

It is the same formula that was used last Easter.

The Governing Council has also agreed to authorize the use of publicly owned indoor swimming pools for therapeutic use, although with limited capacity, on the islands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife.

For the rest, the spokesman for the Government of the Canary Islands has congratulated that the level of use of the covid-19 vaccines received is around 93%, and has stressed that it is “very close” to achieving the most immediate objective of inject 20,000 doses a day.

In the Canary Islands, anyway, there is “operational capacity” to administer 30,000 daily vaccines, the regional government spokesman stressed.

There are already more than half a million doses inoculated in a vaccination process that progresses “unevenly” between population groups and by islands, and with data from yesterday Wednesday the percentage of immunization of the so-called target population stands at 7, 29%.

Regarding the Astrazeneca vaccine, Julio Pérez has indicated that they are awaiting what the authorities decide regarding those who received the first dose.

Among them, the Vice President and Minister of Finance, Román Rodríguez, has revealed.
