USA ⋅ The musician Jon Batiste (35), the singer Olivia Rodrigo (19) and the duo Silk Sonic have won the music prizes in the main categories at this year’s Grammys.

Batiste picked up a total of five awards at Sunday night’s gala in Las Vegas, including a Grammy for Album of the Year for We Are. Batiste had previously gone to the gala as a favorite with a total of eleven nominations.

Singer Rodrigo has won a total of three Grammys, including Best New Artist. The duo Silk Sonic, consisting of Bruno Mars (36) and Anderson .Paak (36), won the categories “Recording of the Year” and “Song of the Year” with the song “Leave the Door Open”.

The Grammys were awarded for the 64th time this year. The gala was originally planned for January 31, but was then postponed due to the rapid spread of the highly infectious omicron variant of the corona virus. The nearly four-hour gala, which was broadcast live on US television, was moderated by comedian Trevor Noah. Around 13,000 members of the Recording Academy decide on the winners of the Grammys, which are among the most coveted music awards in the world. (sda/dpa)
