Government Will Give 50 Percent Discount on Tour Packages for the Community

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The government will provide a tourism stimulus of IDR 1 trillion in December.

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the stimulus budget would be disbursed simultaneously with the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The stimulus will be given in the form of a tourism package discount of 50 percent per Population Identification Number (NIK).

“The maximum discount is Rp 2.35 million per NIK. With this, it is hoped that a multiplier effect will occur as much as 4.58 times to 5.85 times or the value of Rp 9.34 trillion to Rp 11.93 trillion,” said Luhut, as quoted from Antara. official statement, Saturday (26/9/2020).

Luhut said that the tourism discounting was carried out for recovery because the sector had suffered a severe hit due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said, to support tourism activities during Covid-19, the government would implement health protocols.

“So that tourists feel confident about making the trip,” he said.

Luhut also explained, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused a decline in consumption and production activities in Indonesia.

The Indonesian economy is projected to contract in the range of minus 1.7 percent to minus 0.6 percent in 2020.

For this reason, the government provides a budget timulus through the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program to deal with the economic conditions of people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic by involving related Ministries / Agencies.
