Government will create its medicine distributor; will start operating on August 15

MEXICO CITY.

In two weeks, the state company that will distribute medications, medical equipment and vaccines in all the country.

It will be a well-established company so that there is no shortage of medicines even in the most remote town. In the mountains, in the most distant areas, medicines have to arrive free of charge, ”said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The acquisition of medical supplies will be coordinated by the UN to guarantee transparency in the process.

From then on, the distributor will have warehouses and a transportation system to deliver the medicines, ”he explained.

Medicines, vaccines and equipment will be purchased in international tenders in which Mexican companies may also participate.

A STATE COMPANY WILL DISTRIBUTE MEDICINES

The acquisition of medicines, vaccines and medical equipment for the public health sector will be done by the UN and a state company will be in charge of distributing them, said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

In his morning press conference, the head of the Executive stated that the director of the public distribution company will be David León, to date General Coordinator of Civil Protection.

On August 15 it begins to work, tomorrow we will sign the general agreement with the UN here in the morning and I am already proposing that the first period of medicines be annexed, “he said.

The company’s task will be to ensure that medicines, vaccines and medical equipment reach all public health centers, clinics and hospitals, including those located in the most marginalized and remote areas of the country.

The procurement of the drugs will be coordinated by the UN to ensure transparency in the process.

The head of the Executive thanked the federal deputies for having approved the reform to the Procurement Law of the federal administration that allows the government to purchase drugs abroad.
