Government promises to extend pension payment deadlines in Madeira

The payment of pensions and other social benefits, especially when made in cash, should be extended over time due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The guarantee was given today by the Vice-President of the Regional Government of Madeira given the request for people to maintain social isolation, which must be respected so that there is no spread of the virus.

The option will be to extend the payment deadlines for these pensions, which in Madeira should happen in two weeks, on April 1, a Wednesday. “There is a plan to try to extend the period of delivery of these pensions, knowing that there is this personalized and direct contact, to try to limit not only the working hours but also the number of people who go to the entities”, he assures.

The work is being done, including to guarantee “a longer period of care” or “the number of days on which these pensions can be paid”, even because there is still time, the Government knowing that “most of these people do not there are other channels where these transfers can be made, people of some age, many of them don’t even use the new technology ”, stressed Pedro Calado.
