MEXICO CITY (apro).- If the epidemiological indicators of covid-19 continue to decline, next week it would be announced that Mexico City could already pass to the Green Epidemiological Traffic Light, assured Eduardo Clark García, director of Digital Government of the Agency Digital Public Innovation (ADIP).
The country’s capital will remain at a yellow traffic light from February 28 to March 6. If the official’s forecast is fulfilled, next Friday the 4th it would be announced that Mexico City would go to the green traffic light from Monday the 7th.
“According to the improvements we see, it would be possible that we could change the Semaphore next week. Mexico City is in a fairly favorable situation in terms of covid, compared to what we saw a few weeks ago, but until next week there is an opportunity for change, ”he added.
In a conference, the official said that in yesterday’s “Intermediate Traffic Light” CDMX was located at 12 points, when the Green color is from 10. “That means that we are already very close to the Green color.”
Regarding hospital occupation, he reported that in the CDMX at yesterday’s cut there were 974 hospitalized: 688 in general beds and 286 with mechanical intubation. That total represents a decrease of about 1,500 hospitalized in less than a month, after on January 30, the “peak” of this wave, there were about 2,500 hospitalized.
“It is the first time that we are below the thousand hospitalized, since the first days of January; we see, then also here a sustained reduction of almost 70%”, highlighted Eduardo Clark García.
In the Valley of Mexico there are 1,277 hospitalized, when on January 30, the maximum point, was above 3,300; that is, the number dropped by 2 thousand in less than a month.
Regarding the number of positive cases identified in the macro kiosks and health centers where rapid tests are carried out, there are 500 a day, which means a reduction of 93%, compared to the daily maximum that occurred on January 17, when they were identified. up to 7 thousand 800 positives.
“We are still slightly above the lowest moments of positives that occurred during the stages between the second and third waves and the third and fourth waves, but this continues to drop, it is good news that we still see, day by day” said the official.
The positivity rate is at 15%, although it has reached 13%; however, “when positivity and testing go in the same direction, it tells us that this downward trend actually has to do with the underlying trajectory of the spread of the virus in the city.”
In hospital admissions there is also a 75% reduction in public and private hospitals in CDMX. In the last seven days, the daily average is 73 hospitalized, compared to the maximum of 288 that occurred on January 25.
Clark García added that “we are in a fairly favorable situation in the city”, although they are not the best historical levels reached during the first weeks of December 2021. “We are approaching the levels of lowest prevalence of covid in the city. city, which we have seen during almost two years of pandemic. And that is good news,” he insisted.
However, he stressed that it is still necessary to use the face mask, maintain personal hygiene and isolate yourself if you have contact with an infected person and go for the reinforcement of the vaccine.
