During this morning it is contemplated that the government announces the start of the transition phase in at least part of the Metropolitan region, after three weeks of indicators that point to a remission of coronavirus infections.
So, at this morning’s meeting, which summons the President Sebastián Piñera and the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, together with the two undersecretaries of the portfolio, groups of communes should be tuned where, from next week, The first easing of the measures required by the pandemic and which have kept 7.5 million people confined in the capital since mid-May, would begin to govern.
According to reports from the mayors who met with Piñera this week, the guidelines that the government was working on aimed at deconfining the region from three big blocks. In this context, the communes of the eastern sector –Providencia, Ñuñoa, Macul, Peñalolén, La Reina, Las Condes, Vitacura and Lo Barnechea– showed the best indicators to start the transition phase, with a sustained drop in active cases. This phase, which makes confinement more flexible and is adopted in the face of an improvement in health indicators, is the second of the Step by step plan which considers three others to reach the lack of confidence: preparation, initial opening and advanced opening.
At this stage, as detailed by the Health authorities, people will be able to go outside from Monday to Friday and will be able to participate in social gatherings that convene a maximum of 10 people during weekdays. Instead, the weekend will govern the total quarantine. In addition, the use of masks in urban radios will be mandatory.
