Despite the Corona crisis, Angelika Daamen, Managing Director of Göttingen Tourism and Marketing, looks back positively on 2020.
Göttingen – Above all, the growth in social media and voucher sales have developed above average. The Facebook page “Mein Göttingen” is enjoying growing popularity following the introduction of a new social media strategy. The number of users grew by around 18 percent. I.
In the new year the mark of 16,000 fans was broken, according to a statement. The Instagram page of the same name, which the Tourist Information launched in August, is also gaining popularity among users. The site now supplies 4600 subscribers with pictures and interesting facts from the university city. “We are pleased that the ‘Mein Göttingen’ brand has been so well received and we want to further expand the representation of Göttingen’s diversity in social media in 2021,” reports Daamen.
From their point of view, it is also positive that Göttingen Tourism and Marketing can support companies in Göttingen by selling vouchers worth 431 695 euros and help to tie purchasing power to local companies. The largest share are made up of the Göttingen gift vouchers from Pro-City, which can be redeemed at more than 100 retailers, service providers, restaurants and cultural institutions in the city center.
“We are taking an initial positive balance after the introduction of the new voucher variant worth 40 euros. This voucher was particularly popular with companies, especially during the Christmas business, ”says Daamen.
