GOTO Enter New Chapter

JAKARTAinvestor.id – Changes in the organizational structure in line with the addition of professionals is proof that PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) ended its status as ‘start-up‘. The next phase is the realization as a corporation with good governance, like large companies in general.

Observer of the technology sector in Asia, Joel Shen, said that GOTO had closed one chapter, then started the next. ”As the company grew, so did their management team and, at some point, the people who started it start-up from zero to one, will pass the baton to the successor assigned to take the business from one to 100,” he said in an article published via his personal LinkedIn social media account, quoted on Monday (13/2/2023).

Joel, who is also the Head of Office and Technology Division of Law Firm Withersworldwide in Indonesia, appreciates the plan to realize the latest GOTO structure. Including, about downsizing the group into three different business lines viz On-Demand, e-Commerceand Financial Technology. “Each with its own president (Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo, Hans Patuwo, and Melissa Siska Juminto),” he wrote.

Joel also assessed that the composition of GOTO’s Board of Commissioners and Board of Directors after the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) on March 2, 2023 was the ideal formation.

This includes former Minister of Finance and Governor of the Central Bank (Bank Indonesia) Agus Martowardojo, co-founder and managing partner of the Northstar Group, Patrick Walujo, former CFO of the LEGO Group Marjorie Lao, and general counsel of the GoTo Group Pablo Malay who all carry impressive credentials and expected to improve corporate governance,” said Joel.

He also hopes that GOTO will be able to move more agile and develop more with the latest structure and composition of individuals who serve at the helm of the company. ”Wish all the best for the new GoTo management team. May you take the business from strength to strength,” he said.

As reported, a number of prominent figures were included in the candidates for the GOTO Board of Commissioners. Among them are Agus DW Martowardojo, Marjorie Lao, Patrick S. Walujo, and Winato Kartono. They will accompany the Main Commissioner, namely Garibaldi Thohir and Commissioner William Tanuwijaya who will be more focused on their role in this position.

In the board of directors, strengthening was also carried out by proposing two names who were competent in their respective fields, namely Pablo Malay and Nila Marita. GOTO also added the position of president to its organizational structure to lead each unit or line of business.
