Got sky-high Tesla bill: – Would not pay

A Tesla Model S owner must have received a workshop bill of NOK 200,000. He refused to pay, and instead rigged the car with 30 kilos of dynamite, writes The Independent.

The “proud” owner, Finnish Tuomas Katainen, thus took the matter into his own hands, and decided to film the violent action.

He posted the video on YouTube on December 17, and since then, over five million people have seen the clip.

– Had to replace the battery

The car, which was a modified 2013 Model S, had gone without problems for over 1500 kilometers, says Katainen herself in the video.

But then the problems must have started:

– The error codes started to strike, so I ordered a tow truck to take it to the workshop. The car was in Tesla’s workshop for about a month, and in the end I was told that they could not do anything for me – the only option was to replace the entire battery cell, he says.

It would cost at least 200,000 kroner, and Katainen also had to apply for approval from Tesla afterwards.

For, as Business Insider reports, Tesla must also approve the work, which means it can not be done by a third-party workshop that might have demanded less pay for the work.

– Bursts to rags

Katainen refused to spend such a large sum of money, and thus the car was virtually sentenced to death. He summoned his favorite youtubers to come and wipe out the broken Tesla.

– I told the workshop that now I will come and get the Tesla. Now I will blow the whole car to shreds, says Katainen in the video.

Katainen says that he got the car back, and went to work on planning the blasting mission together with the rest of the gang.

30 kilos of dynamite

In the video you can see that the team prepares thoroughly for the explosion, and attaches large sausages with dynamite to the expensive car.

In fact, the team rigs up the car with as much as 30 kilos of dynamite, all on one side of the car so they know which direction the explosion will go.

It is Katainen himself who gets the honor of pressing the shutter button.

After a quick countdown, you can see it lights up from an orange fireball in the quarry where the Tesla stands… stood.

Because as the explosion goes off, Tesla parts explode in all directions.

– Now it’s gone, it is stated in the video, to cheers from the spectators.

Although the standard warranty on the Model S lasts for eight years, it can be invalidated if a workshop, which is not approved by Tesla, opens the battery or performs service on it, The Independent states.
