Goodbye to masses on Facebook

The Seminar will no longer broadcast on Thursdays and Sundays

The Conciliar Seminary of Yucatán concluded its broadcasts of Sunday and Thursday Masses on its Facebook page.

Next year the institution will open its doors for face-to-face masses in compliance with health protocols.

Due to the pandemic, the broadcast program of the Masses began in March and ended with the Mass the day before yesterday for admission to holy orders and delivery of the ministry of readership to four seminarians.

Father Luis Alfonso Rebolledo Alcocer, rector of the Seminary, explained that from the following semester the seminarians will begin their apostolates in the parishes, so the Sunday Masses in the formation house will stop being celebrated as they had been customary since March.

Like Sunday Mass, the Thursday celebration will no longer be broadcast online.

The first

The Seminary and the Mary Immaculate Parish were among the first churches to broadcast the Masses through Facebook during the pandemic. “Later, other parishes began to transmit Masses to attend especially to the sick in their communities,” recalled the rector.

In addition, they saw a reduction in the number of broadcast views because there were already more options and because of the opening of the temples, which occurred last September.

Furthermore, without the virtual transmission of the Masses, the seminarians will be able to concentrate more on their formative process, since the students collaborated in the virtual transmissions.

Finally, the rector encouraged the parishioners to return to the temples, especially at the mandatory masses. “In all the parishes and rectories they are following the sanitary protocols and it seems very good to me.” – Claudia Sierra Medina
