Goodbye forever goodbye

The year ends with a very sad reality: thousands of deaths from illness and violence and a difficult economic situation for millions of compatriots.

About that, I have already said in this space what I had to say. On this, I will let the readers speak, but not before thanking them once again, for writing to me. I have a lot of respect for ordinary citizens, those who, as one of them writes me: “We are exposing ourselves and literally surviving economically, psychologically and in health.”

There are two testimonies: “I am merchant, and during the pandemic without government support. They continue to collect taxes, the famous credit to the word never arrived, low sales, and I almost lost the place that they rented to me ”; “I have business in the Metropolitan area and I am suffering from the closure of my store, this month I was thinking of recovering and also being able to survive the year 21, and it happens that just as it happened in May, in this stage of new confinement the authorities will not support us. This is how another sums it up: “It’s a sad concept that you worked so hard and everything went to waste.”

The terrible thing is that they are forced to close but no support is given to merchants and entrepreneurs who create jobs and pay taxes, and on the other hand, the informal ones are not obliged to comply with the provisions: “As always, the formal businesses are the captives that we obey and that we have complied with all the security measures, while the informal ones break with all the protocols and are to those who support ”.

Indeed, declared the Red light, informal (“illegal in terms of the laws themselves” as defined by the governor of Guerrero), there they continued to offer their products as if nothing else.

For whom then are the provisions of authority? For minorities whose votes are fewer?

A reader relates it like this: “In the pandemic It is the drivers and the checkers of the trucks who do not wear face masks, they shout, let salespeople, singers and users without face masks get on, in addition to crossing the red traffic lights or they are the ones with tinted windows, and the riskiest: they are very full ”.

This is our reality, with it we close 2020. Two comments clearly summarize it: the first was said by the relative of a patient with Covid that he could not get oxygen for his patient, despite traveling half the city looking for it: “President, we can’t take it anymore.” The second was expressed in Tabasco when the recent floods: “I hope there is the possibility of making aid possible.”

Indeed, it is difficult to continue to endure this situation. And indeed, help is needed (because the 10,000 pesos offered as credit to small businesses or the 2,200 pesos offered to restaurant workers are palliative that do not solve the situation and only serve to get votes), which allows people don’t lose your business.

Aid in times of crisis is essential, but the issue is how and to whom it should be given. Helping the poor is a great step that Q4 has taken, but no country can stand that the State supports millions of citizens permanently. What is needed is that they have a way to support themselves with their work and pay the corresponding taxes to the treasury. This is what you have to support.
