Good news for pensioners from former social minister Hristina Hristova. She explained that the budget update included funds for the recalculation of pensions from October 1. According to her, the recalculation of pensions will be carried out in 3 steps. Hristova pointed out that there will be an increase in pensions from the recalculation for 717 thousand people.
“The pension and insurance matter is a complex matter. It is difficult to explain it simply and elementary for non-specialists. You have to be very careful what is said. It turns out that this dialogue with people of retirement age is conducted in insufficient good faith,” commented Hristova in “The Day ON AIR”.
“The original idea is to soften this big difference under the same insurance conditions, salary and insurance, because people retired at different times. These recalculations will benefit the older pensions, because with the newer pensions it is clear that are close to the new average insurance income and will not have such a significant increase. The overall average increase is expected to be around 17%“, Hristova told Bulgaria ON AIR.
According to her, the two systems – social insurance and social assistance – are not well coordinated. She added that when a person’s pension is below the poverty line, they should be given extra help.
The former social minister pointed out that the definition of energy poor people should be updated. Hristova drew attention to the fact that, according to the BNB’s forecast, the prices of all energy carriers will be increased, so a problematic winter awaits us.
