Golkar Party confirmed support Jusuf Kalla (JK) against presidential candidates (capres) Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election is not the party’s official position.
Deputy General Chair of the Golkar Party, Erwin Aksa, said that JK had the status of an ordinary cadre, not an administrator. According to him, JK’s support does not reflect Golkar’s attitude.
“As long as Mr. JK is of course not carrying the Golkar flag, but as an individual,” Erwin said CNNIndonesia.com, Wednesday (20/12). Erwin conveyed this when asked whether Golkar had no problem with JK’s support for Anies.
Erwin sees JK’s position as the same as his position in the 2019 presidential election. At that time, Erwin supported Prabowo Subianto and Golkar was in Jokowi’s coalition.
Erwin resigned from management at that time. However, he returned after the presidential election was over. He also returned to being the administrator of the Golkar Party DPP.
He said Golkar prioritizes the principles of achievement, dedication, discipline, loyalty and irreproachability (PD2LT). Erwin assessed that JK fulfilled these principles as a Golkar cadre.
“Golkar certainly wants to win the legislative elections. Pak JK has entrusted many of his cadres as legislative candidates, chairman of Golkar, even candidates for governor and regent,” said Erwin.
Previously, JK expressed support for Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election. He conveyed this support when he met volunteers Anies-Muhaimin in Makassar.
JK said he had known Anies for a long time. He said Indonesia needs leaders who are strong and do not waste their budget.
“I really convey my attitude, hopefully it will be useful. I have actually supported Anies personally for a long time. But because I am the PMI Chair, I have limits,” said JK in a meeting with AMIN volunteers in Makassar, Tuesday (19/12).
JK has a different attitude to his party, the Golkar Party. Golkar joined the Advanced Indonesia Coalition and supported the pair Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024 presidential election.
