Palm Beach Gardens (AP) – The Australian Matt Jones has won the golf tournament in Palm Beach Gardens.
For the 40-year-old, it was the second victory on the PGA Tour of his career – seven years after the first success. He started on the first day in Florida with an outstanding round of 61 on the par 70 course, and ended up with a round of 68 on Sunday. In the end, he was still five strokes ahead of runner-up Brandon Hogy.
As the only German participant in the event in Florida, which was endowed with seven million US dollars, Martin Kaymer had already left after the first two days. The 36-year-old from Mettmann failed on Friday at the cut. For the two-time major winner, it was the first tournament on the US tour since August last year.
