Neither Pedro Almodóvar, nor Javier Bardem, nor Alberto Iglesias. None of them has managed to win a Golden Globe. They were the only three Spaniards who aspired to win one of the awards given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) this morning.
In the case of the interpreter, it was Will Smith who finally got the statuette for his role in the film The William method. Bardem had been nominated for his performance in Being the Ricardos and he also had as a rival Benedict Cumberbatch, nominated by The power of the dog; Mahershala Ali, nominee for the award for her role in The swan song, or Denzel Washington, who was up for the award for his work on The Tragedy of Macbeth.

The Spanish actor already has a Golden Globe, for best supporting actor, for his role in No country for old men, by the Coen brothers, an interpretation that also helped him win the Oscar in the same category.
As for the award for best soundtrack, it went to the German Hans Zimmer for Dune, by Denis Villeneuve, a category to which the Spanish Alberto Iglesias also opted, with Parallel Mothersby Pedro Almodóvar. Zimmer has achieved this with his third statuette, which he had not won since 2000 when he composed the soundtrack of Gladiator. He had previously achieved it with the music of the animated film The Lion King, in 1994.
The Golden Globes have been held behind closed doors, with no televised gala, no red carpet, no Hollywood stars, and no accredited press.

On the other hand, the Japanese Drive My Car by Ryûsuke Hamaguchi has received the award for the best feature film in a language other than English, a category in which Pedro Almodóvar’s Parallel Mothers was also nominated.
